Make sure your address is up to date with your insurance providers. Not only is it required to maintain your coverage, since your address helps determine your insurance rates it could help save you money.

Contact The DMV

You need to update both your license and vehicle registration.

If you’re moving within the state, most DMVs (or whoever issues licenses and registration in your state) allow you to update your address online. Some require you to do so within 10 days of moving and some even sooner.

If you move out of state, you generally have 10 to 60 days (depending on the state) to register your vehicle and get a new license. In most cases, this means going into the DMV — we strongly advise making an appointment.
